Nursing Times launches #proud2nurse campaign

Nurses from all disciplines and care settings are being urged to join a social media campaign highlighting all the reasons the profession has to be proud of what it does for patients.
Nursing Times launched the campaign on Twitter last week and encouraged nurses to use the #proud2nurse hashtag and state why they felt proud of the job they do.
“We want to highlight the stories that show the compassion nurses have, while also demonstrating the clinical complexity of the role and the intelligence and skill required to do it well”
Nursing Times editor Jenni Middleton said: “The campaign aims to restore pride in the profession after scandals at trusts such as Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust and Winterbourne View have demoralised and demotivated the thousands of nursing staff who are doing a fantastic job and providing brilliant standards of care.
“What we want to do through #proud2nurse is show the public, the media, other healthcare professionals and nurses themselves just what a difference nurses make, in all care sectors and settings,” she said.
“We want to highlight the stories that show the compassion nurses have, while also demonstrating the clinical complexity of the role and the intelligence and skill required to do it well,” she added.
Proud to Nurse

Nurses are being encouraged to take photos of themselves holding up a sign saying “I’m #proud2nurse because…”and giving their reasons.
So far, 103,421 people have seen the hashtag on Twitter and it has appeared in someone’s timeline 772,907 times.
The campaign is also being promoted on Nursing Times Facebook page and has its own dedicated space on the brand’s website nursingtimes.net/proud2nurse.
You can join in by sending photos, tweets and videos of yourself stating why you are #proud2nurse to Twitter, or email proud2nurse@nursingtimes.net.
