Skin Abscess Nursing Care Plan

An abscess is a painful collection of pus, usually caused by a bacterial infection, which can develop anywhere in the body. A skin abscess develops under the skin and often appears as a swollen, pus-filled lump under the surface of the skin. There may also be other symptoms of an infection, such as a high temperature, fever or chill.

The Care Plan sets out a clear explanation of the resident’s issue, and will guide the nurse or carer through the process of preparing a comprehensive, individual person centred care plan.
