Thousands line up for Bupa Great Women’s 10k in Glasgow

Thousands of women are to take part in the Bupa Great Women’s 10k in Glasgow this weekend.

The annual race event will see around 10,000 competitors turn out to take on the course through the city on Sunday.

It is the 21st 10k will follow the same route as previous years starting on Nithsdale Road in the south side, passing through Pollokshields and Pollok Park and then finishing on Mosspark Boulevard.

London 2012 Olympic judo silver medallist winning Gemma Gibbons and television presenter Carol Smillie are among those taking part in the event.

Radio Clyde 1’s Mark Martin hosting a roadshow during the race to spur on the runners, walkers and joggers in order to create a party atmosphere around the event.

Several major roads in the south side of the city will be closed between 4am and 3pm on the day, including Mosspark Boulevard, Nithsdale Road, Haggs Road and Dumbreck Road.
