Protesters took to the streets of London today to show their anger at decisions to downgrade A&E departments in hospitals across the capital.
Those gathered held banners with slogans including “NHS not for sale” and “Keep our NHS public”.
The march was backed by unions, and the event included the handing in of a letter at No 10 Downing Street for Prime Minister David Cameron, asking him to put a stop to “closures and privitisation threats to the NHS”.
The event was prompted by a series of closures and downgrades of A&E departments and other services at hospitals in London.
This includes the downgrading of A&Es at Charing Cross, Central Middlesex, Hammersmith and Ealing hospitals in north west London, and the downgrading of Lewisham Hospital’s A&E.
